Crucial elements behind stud’s impressive IVF pregnancy rate

Rockley Brahmans’ clients are nationwide stud cattle breeders and commercial beef cattle producers looking to expand their herd with elite bulls and females whose characteristics include high fertility, quiet temperaments and efficiency. A balance of phenotype (a visually appealing animal) and genotype (a highly measured animal) removes the guess work out for our clients.
Our passion for these magnificent animals is reflected in the quality of our breeding program, which combines the best genetics, nutrition, and care to produce healthy, strong and beautiful red Brahmans that excel in any environment and go on to meet any market requirements.
Our animals are assessed against seven elite breeding attributes and our elite weaner grading system and this enables us to select the finest red Brahmans with excellent genetics that meet our clients’ requirements. We value data collection and are strong believers in BREEDPLAN.
We sell semen from our outstanding sires in both national and international markets, offering cost effective and quick genetic gain for our clients.
Rockley Brahmans’ clients are nationwide stud cattle breeders and commercial beef cattle producers looking to expand their herd with elite bulls and females, whose characteristics include sound fertility, temperament and efficiency.
Established in the mid-fifties by late beef producer Arnie Kirk, Rockley Brahmans stretches across three properties in Central Queensland. Cedars covers 571 hectares located just south of Banana, while Rockley in Bajool and Ungarra west of Moura each comprise more than 2,500 hectares. We also run a commercial European Union (EU) accredited herd.
Today Chris Kirk and his son Ashley manage Rockley Brahmans. Ashley has travelled extensively to gain invaluable insights from premium beef cattle producers across the country and internationally.
His ingenuity and professionalism led Ashley to be selected as one of only nine young Australians to participate in the 2015 Graeme Acton Beef Connections Mentor Program. He was also awarded an Australian Beef Industry Foundation (ABIF) 2013 Scholarship to take part in the Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Program.

“We would like to commend the Rockley family on the exceptional quality of the bulls we have purchased this year and previously. These bulls are impeccably bred, functional for our region and a delight to muster (by bike or horse). As beef producers it is paramount that our progeny do well at all stages, from calf to ox – this is what we are in business for!
Rockley provides a real bull for real cattlemen that are suited for all areas. If you want to improve or add both body and vigour to your existing herd, Rockley bulls won’t disappoint you.”
Tom talked about how well bull brothers Tyrion and Renly were performing, making special mention of characteristics that directly reflect Rockley’s Elite Breeding Attributes:
Tom is “extra pleased” with the calves by Renly, a light pigmented sire that crosses well with Yoman females, a high percentage of which are also light pigmented. Renly has bred progeny consistently like himself, which has provided good value for money for Yoman Brahmans.
“Tyrion is breeding a high percentage of polled/scurred progeny, crossed over both polled and horned females and has bred a couple of standout calves”, said Tom.
“After using a number of different bulls over our 80-100 breeders over the last 18 years at Millaa Millaa (Southern Tableland) when it came time to choose our latest sire we were looking for something that suited our climatic conditions, high cattle tick load and need to produce saleable beef. Also looking to retain a number of females for future breeders we wanted a quiet bull with very good conformation (particularly in body length, width and height) and with an outstanding growth rate. After doing a lot of research we purchased “Big Red” from Rockley Brahmans. We are very happy with him and recommend anyone looking for a Brahman Bull to make sure they consider Rockley.”
