Naturally mated and IVF sire.

Elmo Picasso was selected at Beef 2018 and purchased privately for $40,000. Our breeding objectives aligned with the breeders of this exciting sire. A homozygous POLLED bull with strong head, clean underline, abundance of length and width and a quiet temperament. His sire has produced very consistent progeny and he was collected at 19 months of age. His dam, Elmo Lady Lucille 855/5 (PP), conceived at 16.5 months and is very sound in the udder. She had two calves in a row with a days-to-calving interval of 358 and was pregnancy tested heavily back in calf.

Picasso had semen collected successfully straight after Beef 2018, a great achievement at only 19 months of age and so soon after a stressful event. For a bull of his age, he has a very evident large scrotal circumference. His grandmother is still producing in the Elmo herd.

His Breedplan figures indicate so far that he is above average in DTC, SS and EMA.

Palmal Pattenson was purchased privately in 2018 for $40,000. A polled sire with plenty of growth, volume and strong bone. He was well developed in the testicles at a young age and on his first attempt, very good quality semen was collected at 20 months of age. His dam was sound in the udder and she has produced a calf every year to date.

Lovely and smooth in the coat, structurally correct, calm natured and tidy in the sheath all describe this sire in the making. He worked well in his first season and his first calves look very promising.

Bazuka is a strong muscled, even red coloured bull with a correct and sound structure. Exceptional length, spring of rib, big hind quarter and width across the top line. He has a kind and quiet temperament and is a scurred/poll bull of natural thickness. His progeny are proving to be remarkably quiet like himself and display terrific do-abiltity in the paddock.

A high growth bull with a tidy sheath and great set of testicles. His EBVs indicate he is in the top 10% for all growth traits, carcass weight, eye muscle area and retail yield. In the top 20% for live export and jap ox indexes.

Etheridge is a light pigmented, polled bull that we made the vitality important decision to retain in 2017. A prepotent son of the proven sire Doonside Mr C Eagle out of one of our most popular donors, Rockley Miss Datababe 17/14. A full brother to Etheridge sold at the Big Country Sale this year for $50,000.

BREEDPLAN figures for Etheridge indicate he is a high growth bull , in the top 10% for 200, 400, 600-day growth, mature cow weight, carcase weight and retail beef yield. He’s in the top 20% for the Jap Ox and Live Export Indexes and in the top 30% for Flight Time.

We have confidently utilised Etheridge in our IVF programs and eagerly await the results. He has been entered in the Repronomics program. We look forward to the assessment of his progeny and improved accuracy of his EBV’s.

We have two polled full sisters to Etheridge who are both outstanding, one of which is also light pigmented. Etheridge progeny include one light pigmented (also known as ‘pink nosed’) who is out of a black nosed cow. We are confident Etheridge would breed a light pigmented progeny when crossed with light pigmented females. His progeny to date look impressive and he is breeding true to his type.

We believe an opportunity presents itself for other breeders from Droughtmaster, Santa etc. to capitalise on utilising more Brahman in their herd given the recent dry times.

Etheridge weighed in at 966kg on the 14/05/2019 when this photo was taken, after light grain supplementation.

Eagle created quite a stir in 2018. One of his sons, Banana Station Manly 69, caught the eye of many red Brahman breeders when he was awarded grand champion bull at the 2018 Royal Queensland Show. Another of Eagle’s sons, Tarramba Mr Eagle 3231, made an impressive $36,000 at the 2018 Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale.

A real apex male, Eagle has taken us to a whole new level in our polled breeding program. He’s a standout phenotypically with tremendous length of body, muscle expression, eye appeal, beautiful balance, bone, scale, natural softness and sire appeal. A disposition second to none and loaded with character.

Backed by the fast-rising industry red sires, ABBA Sire of The Year and a Doonside donor who is a super functional cow with generations of a perfect udder and loads of milk. Both sides are filled with history, hierarchy and hallmark cattle from across the globe.

Eagle’s BREEDPLAN figures indicate he is a high-growth bull for 200, 400, 600-day weights, which we believe to be correct. His Scrotal Size (SS) EBV is above breed average at +1.0 and he is in the top 10% for Jap Ox and Live Export Idexes. At 30 months his raw data delivery was 1038kg, 12/10mm with an EMA of 132.

A $40,000 purchase from the 2011 NCC Sale. Diplomat’s sheer strength, carcass attributes and carriage put him in a class of his own. A powerful straight red with an international pedigree, he represents one of the first reds by international and US national champion, JDH Mr Elmo Manso.

Diplomat has a strong body and is a real sire type out of the leading full blood South African donor NCC Dienka 238 (AI)(ET)(H). Dienka has placed an impressive genetic stamp on the breed with sons in leading herds across Australia.

Our first Rockley Diplomat son sold for $24,000 and the first progeny out of a Diplomat daughter for $12,000. We have many amazing daughters coming in to our production system, with tremendous progeny resulting from these females. We are rapt with the udders on the Diplomat daughters, along with their capacity to maintain the do-ability we require from a lactating female.

Trimble is a real meat machine with strong bone. At the time of sale, he was a milk tooth, weighed 880kg and had a scrotal measurement of 40cm. He is a medium framed bull and an obvious good doer with excellent muscle expression, strong carcass qualities and a hindquarter that is big, square and deep.

Trimble will join a small group of heifers in the registered herd early in the mating period, and finish off in a commercial paddock. We will report on the results in due course…

A beautifully proportioned cow with a tremendous balance of carcass qualities and femininity. Datababe had terrific conformation, great do-ability and a sound udder, topped off by a beautiful nature. Long and thick, she was a very well-balanced breeder that we are very proud of.

Testament to our faith in Datababe’s genetic strength, we have kept an exceptional polled, light pigmented bull out of her, sired by Doonside Mr C Eagle. Two of her sons reached $14,000 at Big Country 2018, selling to Loudon Bros P/L, Mt Surprise and Hill Rise Pastoral, Proserpine respectively.

Born in 2016 this beautifully bred female has two natural calves on the ground and another new addition due any day now which is credit to her considering last year’s extreme drought conditions. Datababe has also worked tremendously well in IVF and produced 11 calves in a program last year. We are eagerly awaiting her next batch of IVF babies due in September, sired by Elmo Picasso (PP) and we are sure they will be impressive.

Datababe is a full sister to our light pigmented, retained sire, Rockley LP Etheridge and also Rockley Dempsey 168/17 who sold for $50,000 at the Big Country Sale 2019.

Four of her sons are earmarked for Brahman Week 2021 and Big Country 2022. Of special mention are two light pigmented sons (sired by Palmal Pattenson (PS) along with their full sisters who are all consistent.

Datababe is in the top 20% for growth in 200 and 400 days and top 10% for 600 day weight. Flight time and shear force are in the top 5%.
