With RBWS 2017 fast approaching, we share the genetic background of the sires and donors of the animals we will be presenting. To help your purchasing decisions, we also highlight consistent traits we see in their progeny. All our breeding and matching decisions reflect our experience and thoughtful commitment to Rockley’s 7 elite breeding attributes.
DOONSIDE MR C EAGLE (IVF) (P)
Sire of Lot 842, Rockley Howden (IVF) (P)
Sire of Lot 843, Rockley Magnussen (IVF) (P)
A real apex male, Eagle has taken us to a whole new level with our polled breeding program. He’s a standout phenotypically with tremendous length of body, muscle expression, eye appeal, beautiful balance, bone, scale, natural softness and sire appeal. A disposition second to none and loaded with character.
Backed by the fast-rising industry red sires, ABBA Sire of The Year and a Doonside donor who is a super functional cow with generations of a perfect udder and loads of milk. Both sides are filled with history, hierarchy and hallmark cattle from across the globe.
Eagle’s BREEDPLAN figures are indicating he is a high growth bull for 200, 400, 600-day weights, which we believe to be correct. His Scrotal Size EBV is above breed average at +1.0. At 30-months his raw data delivery was 1038kg, 12/10mm with an EMA of 132.
KENROL MR HJ RAY 0366 (AI) (ET) (S)
Sire of Lot 844, Rockley Albania (IVF) (D)
A polled son of the imported bull Mr 3H X-Ray and out of an excellent dark red polled donor female who has an excellent udder. He is a high-growth bull that displays tremendous length, bone and docility along with a tidy underline and beautiful coat type. His figures for Days to Calving (DTC) are -5.2, which is well below breed average.
HJ’s progeny are true to his type, exceptionally quiet, strong over the top line, structurally sound, having ample breed character and a high percentage are polled. We have a tremendous line of daughters by HJ that we are excited to join.
Kenrol Brahman Stud sold a son at RBWS 2016 who fetched $34,000.
YOMAN 77/0 (H)
Sire of Lot 845, Rockley Mr Trinadine (D)
Our first two Yoman sons met the market strongly at RBWS 2016.
Yoman is a $32,000 purchase from the 2012 Rockhampton Brahman Week. Elevated, trim, muscular, beautifully pigmented, loaded with character, sirey and with superb length, he’s a rich blend of both worlds – red and grey, old and new, including a direct line to the original importations.
Many of the most successful herds of the past and present are included in his genetics: Cumberland Downs, Lancefield, Burnside, Lyndhurst, Tartrus, JDH, HK, HCC and Cherokee.
The Yoman 77/0 progeny are consistently breeding true to his type. They are quiet in nature, have terrific strong heads and exhibit ample breed character. We continue to be impressed with his females’ udders (sound udders is one of our elite breeding attributes).
